Zelos App Installation

The Zelos app is where you connect your hardware, watch live data, record and compare runs, and work with Zelos AI. It includes its own agent, so you need nothing else to start.

System Requirements

  • macOS 12 (Monterey) or later
  • Apple Silicon (M1 or later)
  • Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (Jammy) or 24.04 LTS (Noble)
  • amd64 architecture

Other Linux Distributions

Zelos is tested on Ubuntu 22.04 and 24.04. It may work on other Debian-based distributions.

  • Windows 10 version 1809 or later
  • 64-bit (amd64) architecture

Installation

Download

Choose your processor type:

Install

  1. Locate the downloaded .zip file in your Downloads folder
  2. Double-click to extract the archive
  3. Drag Zelos.app to your Applications folder
  4. Double-click Zelos.app to launch

First Launch Security

macOS may show a security warning on first launch:

  1. Click Cancel on the security dialog
  2. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security
  3. Find Zelos and click Open Anyway
  4. Enter your password when prompted

Download

Download the Ubuntu .deb from zeloscloud.io/download, then install it from a terminal:

cd ~/Downloads
sudo apt install ./zelos-app_amd64.deb

Or install it from the desktop. On Ubuntu 24.04, double-click the .deb to open it in App Center, then click Install. On Ubuntu 22.04, right-click the .deb in Files, choose Open With → Software Install, then click Install.

The package adds the signed Zelos apt repository to your system. The Update button in Zelos and Ubuntu's Software Updater then keep Zelos current.

Install from the apt repository instead

To install without downloading the .deb first, add the Zelos repository and install with apt:

# Remove an old Zelos source so apt does not list Zelos twice

# Install Zelos App
sudo apt update
sudo apt install zelos-app

Keep jammy on Ubuntu 24.04 too. It is the repository's name, not your Ubuntu version.

Launch the Application

zelos-app

Create Desktop Shortcut

After launching the app:

  1. Right-click the Zelos icon in your dock
  2. Select Add to Favorites

Pro Tip

You can also launch Zelos from the Activities overview by pressing ++super++ and typing "Zelos"

Download

Install

  1. Locate Zelos Setup.exe in your Downloads folder
  2. Double-click to run the installer
  3. The installer shows a progress window and asks no questions
  4. The app launches automatically after installation

'Something Went Wrong' on first launch

On a fresh Windows machine, Zelos 26.0.9 and earlier usually need the Visual C++ runtime:

  1. Download the VC++ Redistributable x64
  2. Run the installer and restart your computer
  3. Launch Zelos again

If the app has worked before, the cause is more often another program holding port 2300. See Troubleshooting.

Updates

Zelos checks for updates automatically:

  • On macOS and Windows, Zelos downloads a new version in the background. Click Restart to update in the title bar to install it. Otherwise it installs the next time Zelos starts
  • On Linux, click Update in the title bar when a newer version exists
  • A dot on Settings () in the sidebar means an update is available
  • Open Settings → App → Updates and click Update and Restart App to install it
  • Click Check for Update in the same section to check right away

On Ubuntu, Zelos updates through the system package manager. An administrator account needs no password. Ubuntu's Software Updater also installs Zelos updates. If you installed Zelos from the apt repository before it was signed, you do not need to do anything. Your next Zelos update moves you to the signed repository and keeps your update channel.
